It’s Sunday. A week ago I posted a picture from the film the Bride of Frankenstein in pious celebration of new technology. It felt necessary and appropriate, as our beloved Apple was to make an announcement.
I realise that my devotion to certain brands neighbours to the ridiculous and my rants sometimes cater to people who, just like me, are easily enchanted by clever designs and flashy yet subtle technology.
I also realise that my devotion is far from mine alone. Most of you probably share some of my affections. Otherwise you wouldn’t be here right now.
It might seem dumb and wasteful to spend another two hundred or so words on yet another celebration of technology but on days like these there is very little else to take refuge in. If you were in Stockholm you’d have some idea of what I’m writing about.
It’s Sunday. Yesterday it was Saturday. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and today I’m feeling a bit tired. The weather is horrible and my Internet is acting weird.
So what am I to do but sit down with an array of hot beverages, my laptop and a Mutewatch prototype (which each and everyone of you is welcome to come and try out – just email me at fredrik.lundin@mutewatch.com) and spend some time. I’ve been boiling eggs and pasta, I’ve done laundry, and I’ve taken a nap and woken up to a sweet quivering from around my wrist.
I suppose it is part of my job to find out how you can incorporate the Mutewatch into life but I have to tell you that Mutewatch works quite well. I suppose it is also part of my job to say that it works quite well but it really does. I’m not pulling legs or yanking chains.
I’m in favour of most things new and digital and today’s expedition has left me with that happy feeling of contentment that accompanies a day well spent.
